Development of guidelines on nutrition of healthy children under 5 years old UPDATED: 20 APRIL 2015

In 2014, the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) started the implementation of the eleven-month project " Development of guidance on nutrition of healthy children under 5 years old and conducting trainings for health professionals". The project is implemented with the technical support of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO). Consultative support for the project is provided by Dr. Lolita Vija Neiman, Master of Dietetics, head of the research program on "Nutrition" at Paul Stradinja University of Riga (Latvian Medical Academy).

The project envisages the preparation of guidance and training materials on the nutrition of healthy children under 5 years of age, as well as conducting pilot trainings. Guidance and training materials will be developed for pediatricians and children's nurses working in the primary health care system. The main task of the project is to prepare guidelines and materials for conducting pilot trainings with recommendations based on modern science on the rational and balanced nutrition of pregnant women and healthy children under 5 years of age, as well as the prevention of diseases related to malnutrition in children.

In the framework of the project, the protocols of UNICEF, WHO, the American Nutrition Association, the health department of South Australia and other international organizations working in the field of nutrition will be used to compile the guidelines and training materials, and they will be translated into Azerbaijani and adapted to local requirements.
