Based on the 2nd Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) in Azerbaijan, CDC prepared a countrywide Information Bulletin UPDATED: 5 OCTOBER 2016

With the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States, theGlobal Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), which is held in many countries of the world, is being realized for the second time in Azerbaijan starting from 2015.

In the initial stage of the research based on the common methodology, the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) conducted a survey among 2122 students aged 13-15 from 25 schools in April-May 2016, and as a result, various information on tobacco use was collected. Questions were about smoking, tobacco knowledge and attitudes, tobacco cessation, second-hand smoking, and tobacco-related media and advertising. During the survey, anonymity, confidentiality of the survey results was ensured, and various hand outs were used.

Based on the collected data, the CDC prepared a national Fact sheet. A final report on the study was also prepared and brought to the public attention.
