Training on "Health Management" was held at the Center for Public Health and Reforms of the Ministry of Health

A training on “Health Management” was held on March 3-5, 2020 at the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health with the participation of international trainers-experts. The training, organized by PHRC and “Uptodate in Medicine”, was designed for physicians, health workers and public health managers.

In his introductory speech, PHRC Director Dr. Gahraman Hagverdiyev said that the development of healthcare in Azerbaijan is one of the important directions of the long-term development strategy defined by the country's leadership, and the main purpose of today's training is to study international experience in medical management.

Warren C. White, vice president of Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital Network, Michigan, USA, spoke about the role of leadership skills, teamwork, and proper financial management in improving the performance of medical facilities, quality of delivering of health service to local and international population. Dr. Kenneth O'Neill, Vice President of Health Management, Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital Network, spoke about the most important steps to be taken in the effective management in the medical sector and professional mentoring and support mechanisms to health staff.

On the last day of the training, PHRC Director Dr. G. Hagverdiyev gave detailed information on health marketing and marketing tactics in the field of health. Dr. Zarifa Kamilova, Head of the Quality Control Department of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center (RMDC), shared her experience in the field of improving quality of care, staff morale, and retention of professionals. In her presentation she demonstrated accurately assess RMDC level of performance in relation to established standards and to implement ways to continuously improve interest in hospital accreditation ascends in line with JSI international accreditation standarts.

The training also included different views  on accreditation chalenges of health facilities, health information systems issues and implemantation of effective management in health clinincs.

At the end, the questions of the participants were answered and certificates were presented.
